The Prologue to Razzmatazz
(the novel I am currently working on)

He watched her through the glass while she slept. Her brow was high, noble, intelligent. She looked obviously Asian, though she spoke no known language, and her DNA had confirmed that she was, indeed, Asian, though there were discrepancies even there. He watched the rise and fall of her chest, and the total tranquillity which came over her only when she slept. Her eyes were closed, her nose small and perfect, but her lab given clothes hid her figure, a figure that he now imagined. He placed his hand upon the glass, while his eyes took her in like a gentle taste of honey, daring not to take too much in, lest he be over powered. It was then he realised with a certain sense of terror, that he was falling in love with the woman on the other side of the glass, a woman who was a classified prisoner of this most secret of research facilities, who he could never be with. She awoke then, and smiled at him. It was a terrible smile, as if she knew also what was happening to him, and knew that he was about to do something stupid.
Very stupid.
